Gut Strings Viola

The suggested sets of gut strings for Baroque viola are examples of so-called “equal tension“ strings. If you want to work out your individual string combinations, you’ll find the String Calculator a great help. The Price List  (available as PDF) will also give you a complete list of all Pure Corde gut strings.  In addition, we offer strings made by the company Toro Kürschner, which work very well in combination. For a description of the string types “diskant”, “high twist” and “triple”, please click here. The gradations between the gut string sets for Baroque violin, such as “Light” (460 Hz), “Medium” (440 Hz), and “Heavy” (415 Hz) are done in semitone steps. (See also under String Sets). If you have any further queries,  please feel free to contact us, and if you want to make a purchase, simply use our Order Form.
